Why Operation Purple Camp Matters for Military Kids
Military kids grow up navigating frequent moves, long separations from parents, and changes that fall outside their control. These experiences can shape how they see themselves and how they connect with others, especially when their peers do not share the same realities.
Operation Purple Camp was created to meet those needs directly. It gives military kids time away from everyday stressors and places them in an environment where their experiences are understood without explanation. Being surrounded by peers who share similar backgrounds helps campers feel less isolated and more confident in who they are.
Throughout the week, campers build independence, try new activities, and form friendships rooted in shared understanding. Camp traditions and structured activities create a sense of stability, while trained staff and on-site Military and Family Life Counselors ensure support is always available. Campers are also recognized through NMFA’s Wall of Honor, reinforcing our belief that Military Kids Serve Too®.
Get Ready for Summer 2026
Operation Purple Camp is a meaningful and memorable experience for military kids, offering connection, support, and a chance to simply be kids. We look forward to welcoming campers across the country for another summer filled with growth, friendship, and fun.
Mark your calendars for February 11, spread the word, and get ready for the 2026 Operation Purple Camp season.
