Good Guide Intern
Position Summary
The Good Guide Intern is a temporary position working with the National Military Family Association’s Military Family Programs team to support the virtual Operation Purple® Summer Challenge program. The Intern is responsible for engaging military families, specifically kids ages 6-17, in live virtual sessions and at-home challenges over an 8-week summer program. Responsibilities also include data analysis and program administration.
Expected Start and End Date: May 25 – August 14 (12 weeks)
Estimated Hours/Week: 15-20
Schedule (EDT): Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11:00am – 3:00pm; Wednesdays, 10:30am – 2:30pm AND 3:30pm – 7:30pm
Hourly Pay: $15 per hour
Location: Alexandria, VA, NMFA Headquarters
Responsibilities
- Participate in live virtual training to build the skills and knowledge necessary for program delivery. May include:
- Demo session observation and delivery
- Group leadership instruction
- Contributions to live parent info session
- Host live sessions and provide programmatic support.
- Lead and support weekly live virtual sessions with participants ages 6-14, including session preparation, engaging activities, technical and chat support, and post-session tracking and analysis.
- Manage camper interactions in live sessions and modify activities as needed to best engage your group.
- Support behind the scenes tasks such as setup, after action review, scheduling, and family communications.
- Engage in weekly supervisor check-ins, feedback sessions, and team meetings for ongoing staff development.
- Conduct program after action.
- Complete data entry and participant tracking toward prize distribution.
- Support final program celebration and family outreach for summer wrap-up
- Provide feedback and codify best practices for future programming efforts.
- Other duties as assigned within the 15-20 working hours per week.
Requirements
- Pass a background check to work with minors.
- Available for all contract dates and schedule times.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and comfort working with youth ages 6 to 17.
- Experience with the military family community.
