RAND estimates that there are 5.5 million military caregivers in America. So, we can expect that the children of these caregivers number in the millions too.
National Military Family Association and Elizabeth Dole Foundation Launch Initiative to Support Children of Military and Veteran Caregivers
NMFA and Elizabeth Dole Foundation hosted a forum focused on the children of caregivers. Participants worked together to gain a better understanding of the challenges faced by these children and produce a shared action plan that will serve as the basis for future programming and support.
The role of caregiver is an important one, but rarely one that is anticipated or prepared for. Yet, many unsuspecting spouses, parents, family members, and friends have found themselves assuming this role without warning to care for a wounded, ill, or injured service member.
