September 2026 State of the Military Family® Video Newsletter

Special Edition:

This Patriot Day marks 25 years since the September 11 attacks that changed our nation forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families whose worlds changed in an instant, and the first responders who ran toward danger.

And we remember what happened next.

For more than two decades, America’s service members deployed around the world while their families carried the weight of war at home. Spouses endured long separations and uncertainty. Children navigated deployments and goodbyes. And some families waited for a homecoming that would never come.

Through every chapter, the National Military Family Association has been honored to stand alongside military families.

We’ve given military kids a place to connect at Operation Purple® Camp. We’ve helped military spouses pursue their education and careers through scholarships. We’ve elevated the experiences of military-connected teens and carried military family voices to Capitol Hill, advocating for policies that reflect what families actually need.

A full generation has grown up since September 11, and many continue their families’ legacy of service today.

As we mark 25 years, we honor those we lost, those who served, and the military families who carried the weight of war alongside them.

We will never forget.

NMFA remains committed to standing with military families today and through whatever comes next.

Together, we’re stronger®
