Celebrating the Voices of Military Kids
Month of the Military Child 2026

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize the courage, strength, and sacrifices of children growing up in military and veteran families.

Military kids navigate experiences many of their peers never face. Frequent moves, new schools, deployments, and long stretches apart from a parent in uniform all shape their childhood. Through it all, military children show remarkable bravery and adaptability.

At the National Military Family Association, we believe Military Kids Serve Too®.

This April, we’re honoring the voices of military children by sharing their stories and experiences throughout the month. We’d love to hear from the military kids in your life.

Share a short quote from your child about what it’s like to be a military kid or what they want others to know about their experience. Their words can help shine a light on the strength, resilience, and unique perspectives of military kids across our community.
