NMFA Supports Military Families During COVID-19

How We Are Helping

As the COVID-19 story continues to develop, we are reassessing how to best meet the needs of military families during these uncertain times.

Service members are still deployed; National Guard units have been activated. Schools and child care centers are closed, and families scheduled to move to their next duty station are locked in place. Many military spouses have already lost their jobs, while others face reduced hours, and are struggling alone at home with kids while their service member is focusing on our nation’s safety.

Your gift of support will:
$

Give scholarships to military spouse small business owners trying to provide financial stability.

$

Provide finish-line scholarships to military spouses who are almost done with school and could use an extra boost to finish and move along to meaningful employment to better support their families.

$

Enable us to use our digital footprint and highly engaged community to share information that will help military families during these financially stressful times.

$

Allow us to stay on top of the evolving situation and provide daily updates to military families so they can be empowered to make choices that are best for their family.

$

Expand our #OPatHome campaign, a digital version of our Operation Purple program (camps and family retreats) designed to help families develop and maintain their strength and resiliency during this time of great uncertainty.

$

Make advocating for benefits and assistance to support military families, including Guard and Reserve families, during these unprecedented times possible.

Operation Purple Camp

Eastern 4-H Center is owned and operated by NC State University. The Center's staff is dedicated to providing every camper an opportunity to feel accepted, valued, and cared about as a member of the summer camp community. Creating friendships and a sense of safety are as important to us as the activities we teach. Our vision is to establish an enjoyable and exciting summer camp program that contributes to the development of each camper's character, along with the development of important life skills. Our summer camp experience enables campers to learn these skills while doing a variety of traditional summer camp activities, such as kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, learning about nature, team challenge course, sports and games, arts and crafts, and archery. Eastern 4-H Center is also outfitted with modern recreational facilities and lodgings to make campers feel comfortable during their stay. We hope your camper will join us for a fun filled week.
