National Military Family Association Recognizes Two Champions of Military Families

Anna C. Chennault Award Presented at Annual Leadership Luncheon

October 11, 2016

Alexandria, VA – The National Military Family Association (NMFA), a nonprofit that works to strengthen and protect military families, announced today the recipients of the 2016 Anna C. Chennault Award.  Frank J. Hogan and Major General (Ret) Gil Meyer, were honored at NMFA’s annual Leadership Luncheon.

The Anna C. Chennault Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of NMFA through their own donations, donations by others, or who have otherwise assisted in accomplishing the Association’s mission of education, information, and advocacy.

“We are grateful for both Mr. Hogan and MG Meyer’s support of military families and are honored to present them both with this award,” said Gail McGinn, NMFA’s Chairman of the Board. “Their steadfast support of military families has not gone unnoticed.”

Frank J. Hogan
As a long-time supporter of military families and of NMFA, Mr. Hogan’s contributions to the Association span many different areas. He has been a strong force for military families, showing time and again he unwaveringly has their backs. Mr. Hogan supports numerous military and veteran charities in addition to NMFA. A Marine Corps veteran, father of a Marine Corps veteran, and grandfather of a recent graduate of Marine Corps boot camp, Mr. Hogan understands and celebrates the service of military families to our nation.

“Mr. Hogan is also a dedicated donor to NMFA,” said McGinn. “His longtime support as a donor and champion of our advocacy mission make him especially deserving of the 2016 Anna C. Chennault Award.”

Major General (Ret) Gil Meyer
In April 2015, MG Meyer agreed to donate his time and expertise to helping the NMFA Board of Governors complete a comprehensive review of its governance process—a task that would have cost the Association tens of thousands of dollars. At the conclusion of this work, MG Meyer recommended a wide range of changes to the Board and its work, all of which were overwhelmingly approved. These major changes in the Board’s governance have streamlined and enhanced its oversight process.

“MG Meyer’s donation of significant contribution of time to this task exemplifies the character and standard of NMFA’s prestigious Anna C. Chennault Award,” said McGinn.
