TRICARE Retiree Dental Program
As a retiree family you are eligible for the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP). The TRICARE Retiree Dental Program is a voluntary, premium-based dental insurance plan and offers coverage in the United States and overseas locations. New enrollees must initially enroll for 12 consecutive months. After the initial 12-month period, you become eligible for the full scope of benefits under the Enhanced TRDP. Following the initial 12-month enrollment period, enrollment will continue on a month-to-month basis. It is important to note that new retirees who elect to enroll within four months after retiring from active duty or transfers to retired reserve status, are eligible for a waiver of the 12-month waiting period for the full scope of benefits under the Enhanced TRDP.
TRDP offers covered services worldwide, with benefits based on whether you are enrolled in the Enhanced TRDP or the Enhanced-Overseas TRDP. The service area for enrollees in the Enhanced TRDP includes the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and Canada.
Delta Dental Plan of California is the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program contractor and provides services for enrollment, authorization of claims processing, and customer service. Premium rates vary depending on your location and are adjusted annually on October 1.
