STEM Education and Careers

Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers are among the fastest growing in the U.S., according to the Department of Labor. Given their mobile lifestyles, military spouses should consider careers in these often high-demand, financially-stable, portable professions – they may alleviate the stops and starts of your career every move or transition.

STEM Resources

Whether you are in a STEM field already, or considering STEM, don’t miss these tailored resources:

MyCAA

My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) is a Department of Defense workforce development program providing up to $4,000 in scholarship or free tuition assistance to E1-E5, O1-O2, and W1-W2 military spouses pursuing a license, certification, or Associate’s degree in a portable career field and occupation – to every spouse who qualifies! Many eligible programs are STEM related.

Spouse Education and Career Opportunities

First stop in your education or career journey (!): Spouse Education and Career Opportunities (SECO), another Department of Defense program, offers education and career counseling to military spouses in STEM and other fields. SECO’s certified Career Counselors are available 24/7 through Military OneSource (800-342-9647).
