2018 Leadership Breakfast

Homefront Health Care: Charging Towards Victory for America’s Heroes and Their Families

Join the National Military Family Association Thursday, April 19, for our annual Leadership Breakfast highlighting the latest issues impacting our military and their families.

This year’s Leadership Breakfast, emceed by WUSA9’s Emmy Award winning investigative journalist, Andrea McCarren, will focus on how we can continue to improve health care for America’s heroes and their loved ones.

Health care for military families is undergoing tremendous transformation and our distinguished featured speaker, Vice Admiral Raquel C. Bono, USN, is at the center of these changes.

Vice Admiral Bono, a surgeon whose military career spans nearly four decades, currently serves as the Director of the Defense Health Agency. She will discuss how health care for our service members and their families is changing, and how those changes will create a medically fit military force on our homefront, and in battle.

ATTENDANCE BY DOD PERSONNEL AND POLITICAL APPOINTEES
Please be advised that the Department of Defense (DoD) no longer provides "blanket" Widely Attended Gathering (WAG) determinations for external events. It is our belief that the NMFA Leadership Breakfast qualifies as a widely attended gathering pursuant to 5 C.F.R. § 2635.204(g). This means that DoD personnel may accept our invitation if their agency determines that their presence at the luncheon is in the interests of their agency.  To ensure compliance with federal executive branch ethics rules, we suggest that DoD personnel consult with their supervisor or ethics advisor prior to attending. The National Military Family Association is not a lobbying organization; therefore, political appointees are eligible to accept our invitation under the widely attended gathering exception.
