Summer Programs
Families looking for summer programs for their children should start the process in February or March. The National Military Family Association's Operation Purple® summer camp program is offered to military children free of charge to help them cope with the stresses of war. Click here to learn more.
Visit the Child and Youth Services on the installation to see if they have a list of summer programs in the area. Also, don't forget to talk to other spouses to see if they have any recommendations.
There are many organizations that provide summer programs at reasonable costs. YMCA, 4-H, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts all have wonderful summer programs. Local churches can also be a good resource. Check out the American Camp Association website at www.acacamps.org/ to find camps in your area.
