TRICARE Management Activity Announces Calendar Year 2014 Premiums

TRICARE Management Activity (TMA) has announced updated rates for two premium based coverage options, TRICARE Young Adult (TYA) and the Continued Health Care Benefit Program (CHCBP).

TRICARE Young Adult is a plan that qualified adult children can purchase after eligibility for “regular” TRICARE ends at age 21 (or 23 if enrolled in college.) TYA provides medical and pharmacy benefits, but dental coverage is excluded. To participate, you must pay monthly premiums. TYA premium rates are adjusted annually on a calendar year basis. For 2014, rates are increasing $4 per month for both Prime and Standard options:

The Continued Health Care Benefit Program is a premium based health care program that offers temporary transitional health coverage for 18-36 months after TRICARE eligibility ends. The CHCBP acts as a bridge between military health benefits and your new civilian health plan with coverage comparable to TRICARE Standard. For eligibility details, please see the TRICARE website. If you are eligible, you may purchase the CHCBP within 60 days of losing TRICARE eligibility. CHCBP quarterly premium rates are adjusted annually on calendar year basis. For 2014, rates have increased $55 per quarter for individuals and $127 per quarter for families:
