PCS Season is Around the Corner
Did your spouse come home with orders? Soon you will start to see moving trucks and receive your official PCS orders, but you may not know where to start.
Moving is a large part of the military lifestyle and can be exciting and stressful at the same time. The National Military Family Association has a Moving section on our website which highlights moving allowances and entitlements as well as providing general information on what to expect. We also have a Moving life path in our app for iPhone and Android phones, MyMilitaryLife. Download it today to create a custom to- do list for your move, and learn about the reliable moving resources available to you.
Remember, since no two moves are the same (i.e. moving overseas, moving with children, or making your final move) and benefits can change, you’ll want to check with your transportation office to ensure you have the latest information.
Our Top Five Moving Resources:
DoD Household Goods Portal is where you schedule your move.
Plan My Move includes checklists, calendars, and contact information to help you move door to door.
MilitaryINSTALLATIONS will give you an overview of your new installation with contact information and hours of operation.
Automated Housing Referral Network is the official Department of Defense sponsored website lists available rentals on and off the installation.
Military OneSource includes a Relocation Assistance Program and relocation counselors available to help you research any moving related questions. There are also several articles and advice for different types of move.
