National Military Family Association Meets with CEO of NEXCOM

The National Military Family Association’s Executive Director, Joyce Raezer, and Deputy Director of Government Relations, Christine Gallagher, visited with Robert J. Bianchi, Rear Admiral, Supply Corps, U.S. Navy (Ret.) Chief Executive Officer of the Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) in Virginia Beach, VA on April 23.

NEXCOM oversees the Navy Exchange (NEX) facilities, Navy Lodges, Ship Stores, Telecommunications Program Office, Navy Uniforms, and the Navy Clothing and Textile Research Facility. NEXCOM’s mission is to provide Sailors and the Navy community quality goods and services at a savings and to support Navy Quality of Life Programs. NEX revenues are used to support Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs. In 2012, $45 million in dividends were provided to Navy MWR programs.

The NEX and other exchange systems including the Marine Corps Exchange, The Exchange (formerly Army + Air Force Exchange), and the Coast Guard Exchange provide valuable cost savings to military families. Equally important, the exchange system profits are reinvested in MWR programs, resulting in quality of life improvements for the entire military community.
