Montana Makes 46!
Montana became the 46th state to adopt the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunities for Military Children. Governor Steve Bullock signed the bill on April 29, 2013. The National Military Family Association sent support letters to Senator Jim. E. Peterson (R-MT) and Senator Art Wittich (R-MT) urging the passage of this important legislation. We are pleased Montana has joined the Interstate Commission and we thank Senator Peterson and Senator Wittich for their leadership in introducing this legislation.
Earlier this year Arkansas and Idaho joined the Interstate Commission. There are four states remaining that are not a part of the Compact: Minnesota; New Hampshire; New York; and Oregon. Legislation is pending in New York.
Our Association is committed to ensuring the Compact is passed and implemented in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. We look forward to working with the remaining states to pass the Compact.
Until military families are relieved of the weight of war, we hope you will continue to contribute to their wellbeing.
