Military Spouse Employment Partnership Adds New Partners
Thirty-two companies and organizations joined the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP) on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 as part of the White House-sponsored Joining Forces effort to help unemployed military spouses find jobs. The partnership’s members include small and large, local, national and international businesses who have pledged to work with the Department of Defense to create military spouse career opportunities. Since its launch on June 29, 2011 the Partnership has hired more than 32,000 military spouses.
The partnership seeks to mitigate the challenges of military life by helping spouses find and maintain rewarding careers despite frequent relocations. The partnership and its business members are vital to the military community because of spouses' high unemployment rates and historically low wages.
The new MSEP Partners signed the MSEP Statement of Support, pledging to:
- Increase employment opportunities for military spouses
- Maintain employment status for military spouses as they relocate
- Provide career promotion opportunities for military spouses
- Ensure that military spouses are paid at a level that matches their training, work experience, accomplishments, and credentials
The National Military Family Association is an enduring MSEP partner and attended the signing ceremony to welcome in the new partners. The partnership is actively growing. Are you a military spouse seeking a new job? Have you applied for a position using the MSEP website? We would like to hear your experience. Write to us or post your comments on our Facebook page.
Until military families are relieved of the weight of war, we hope you will continue to contribute to their wellbeing.
