Association Wins Award For Leadership in Hiring Military Spouses
The National Military Family Association won the Capital One Award for Small Business Veteran and Military Spouse Employment for demonstrated leadership in hiring veterans and military spouses and honoring the sacrifices they have made in service to our nation. The award was presented at the 2nd Annual Lee Anderson Hiring Our Heroes Awards Dinner at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington D.C.
“The National Military Family Association was founded 43 years ago by military spouses, and our mission is to serve military families – you could say the determination to hire military spouses is in our DNA,” said Joyce Raezer, Executive Director of the Association. “We value the work and life skills our military family employees bring to the table due to constant moves, dealing with deployment, and facing daily challenges – we see that experience as making great employees. Throughout the years we have seen that our employees are passionate about supporting military families because many of them are military families.”
Hiring our Heroes named 25 finalists in five employer categories based on nominations about each employer’s dedication to hiring veterans and military spouses.
“I nominated the Association because it’s an amazing place to work,” said Amanda Anderson, one of two employees to nominate the Association for the award. “When I interviewed here I was nervous about my employment history being short at each company due to moves with my husband. When I mentioned this concern the response was, ‘Don’t worry about that. This is one place that we understand the hardships faced by military spouses.’ I knew then this was the place for me! The Association gets me, my family, and what we face in today’s military life.”
Other award winners were:
