About 300 scholarships, averaging around $1000, will be awarded to military spouses pursuing professional certification, licensure, training, required clinical supervision for mental healthcare professionals, associate’s, bachelor’s , master’s and doctorate degrees.
The National Military Family Association and Discovery Communications Team Up this Veterans Day to Honor the Families Who Serve Too
November 7, 2014 — NMFA and Discovery Communications are teaming up for three Veterans Day events in New York City to support military families. The events include a float in the annual “America’s Parade,” as well as a fundraiser reception and comedy show. The 15th annual “America’s Parade” on Veterans Day, hosted and produced by the United War Veterans Council, features more than 600,000 spectators and is broadcast nationwide. This year’s parade will travel along the iconic 5th Avenue in New York City and feature more than 240 floats and 20,000 participants.

The report says that 14% of American households rely on food banks, but when it comes to the military, that number is 25%-- which translates to 620,000 families.
